A heads-up to motorists to expect lots of traffic and road closures around Western University as students return to campus.
Sunday and Monday are designated “Residence Move-In” days.
Campus events will close the University Drive bridge in the evenings beginning Monday until Wednesday and again next weekend.  The City of London will be closing Platt’s Lane on Tuesday as part of the Western/Wharncliffe Road widening project.  That’s expected to re-open Friday.

University Drive Bridge

To assist with pedestrian safety during the large number of events taking place across campus, University Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic from Monday, September 3 until Wednesday, September 5 and again on Saturday, September 8, from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. each night.

 

The bridge will remain open to cyclists and pedestrians, LTC buses will be rerouted.

 

Huron Drive 

On Friday, September 7 and Saturday, September 8, Huron Drive between Lambton Drive and the Western Student Recreation Centre will be closed from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.

London community should plan extra time and expect delays when travelling to and around Western’s campus next week.

 

City of London – Platt’s Lane

Beginning Tuesday, September 4 until the evening of Friday, September 7.  The City of London is closing Platt’s Lane to motorists and cyclists at Western Road as part of the Western/Wharncliffe road-widening project. Traffic on Western Road will be maintained.

 

During this time, pedestrians travelling north up Platt’s Lane will need to use the west side walk to access Western Road.
