Loved your interest in this. I’ve got some answers to your questions. And thanks for them!

Q. Peter Reisiger asked : “So, what do you do while the music is playing now you no longer have to “pull” the records?”
A. We keep pretty busy while the music is playing. Our computer is pre-loaded with music and commercials so while it’s running, we spend time gathering information for those times when we talk. We also spend time researching content, updating social network material such as Facebook. I also monitor any changes in weather, such as radar screens for incoming precipitation, traffic sources, and police reports. We check and re-check these things. The odd time we’ll be taking phone calls or recording commercials and promos in a separate studio with a sound producer. It’s a busy shift… good busy.. but busy.

Q. Timothy Walters asked : “Yoga pants and no makeup while working?”
A. It’s tempting, especially knowing no one can see you ;). And I’m not going to pretend that the odd weekend or holiday I haven’t worn something “athletic”. But for the most part, we come dressed for the job. It’s a mental thing, but I’m more “up” for my shift, if I’m dressed as though I’m hosting company (which is what I feel I’m doing).

Q. Dan W Smith asked : “Do you get to roll around in your chair pretending you are flying a fighter jet…because nobody can see you? That’s what I would do.”
A. Ha! Ha! Sometimes I look at all the controls on the console that we use and it does make me wonder if I could fly a plane!

Q. Steph asked : “How would one go about getting into a position such as yours?”
A. The quick answer, is to take a broadcasting course. That’s the path I took. When selecting a school, you might consider asking them what their job placement numbers are. Just a suggestion.

Q. Wendy Lucas asked : “Is anything actually broadcast from Tillsonburg?”
A. Yes our studios are located in downtown Tillsonburg. That’s where you hear us from.
