Effective today, changes are being made to Criminal Record Checks for youths and the types of record checks that will be provided by the London Police Service.
The Ontario Police Record Checks Reform Act says that police record checks for anyone under the age of 18 will only be conducted when it is for employment or to volunteer for federal, provincial or municipal departments.
The act also allows three types of record checks:

1: A criminal record check, which will only disclose if the applicant has any criminal convictions.

2: A criminal record and judicial matters check which will disclose any absolute or criminal charges, outstanding charges and warrants.

3: A vulnerable sector check which will only be requested for those who intend on working or volunteering with the vulnerable.
