The Oxford OPP, Woodstock Police Service and the Canadian Mental Health Association are joining together to start up a two year pilot project, which is aimed at improving response times for people experiencing mental health crisis’.
“M-HEART”, which will roll out this fall will be available in oxford county and will be useful in chronic cases where someone may need long term mental health interventions. A crisis worker will accompany officers on mental health calls to help de-escalate those situations.
The project is funded for two years by a proceeds of Crime Frontline Policing Grant.
